Launch of a new joint research project in Kinshasa: The functioning of mutual insurance companies and social security funds for civil servants in the DRC.
From February 6 to 10, the same team of researchers from the University of Antwerp and the Catholic University of Congo embarked on another phase of joint research focusing on the situation of civil servants and other public officials.
For three days, the researchers split into small groups of two to three people with the aim of exploring the different interpretations of social security for public servants by the public servants themselves and by three institutions responsible for providing them with various services, namely: the National Social Security Fund for State Public Servants (CNSSAP), the Social Security Fund for Parliamentarians (SESSOPA), and the Mutual Fund for Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education Teachers (MESP). By bringing together the perspectives of the funds, their beneficiaries, and hospitals, we finally defined the questions and hypotheses that will guide the next stage of the research.
